3 Free Tools to Automatically Update and Backup Your Drivers

Some people ask, why my computer is so slow? and the first thing they think about is potential spyware or virus running in the background. Believe it or not, computers sometimes slow down not due to viruses, spywares or adwares, they slow down because of your drivers.

You might not have the recent update for specific drivers like your network card, or your graphic card. And some drivers just stop functioning due to an error in the system or user error.

Whats the plan?

drivermax4Some people backup their drivers in a Flash drive or a CD in order to use them in-case something happens to the software. That way they car run the software again and overwrite the older one, which would eliminate the problem. Thats a good way to do it, but  how about making the process much easier on you. Here are free open source softwares that can backup, restore and update your drivers with ease. With a click of a button these softwares will bring you what you need.

Device Doctor is a freeware Windows application that scans your computer hardware and checks to see if there are new driver updates available for your devices. It also locates drivers for “unidentified devices” in the Windows Device Manager. The software has drivers for over 13 million individual devices and computers. The software is very easy to use, after you download and install it, click on the scan button. Wait few minutes and then a screen will show you the name of the drivers that need update. Then Click on download driver.

Another free software that finds and update drivers for you is called DriverMax. It downloads the latest driver updates for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. DriverMax allows you to download the latest driver updates for your computer. No more searching for some rare driver on discs or on the web. No more driver CD after the other. Just create a free account, log in, and start downloading the driver updates that you need. You can also export all your current drivers to a folder or a compressed file. When reinstalling Windows you will have all drivers in one place!

You can also use Double Driver freeware software, it basically does the same thing as the other two above. Double Driver is a very simple and useful tool which not only allows you to view all the drivers installed on your system but also allows you to backup, restore, save and print all chosen drivers simply and reliably. Double Driver analyzes your system and lists the most important driver details such as version, date, provider, etc and offers you the chance to update to the latest version. All drivers that are found can easily be backed up the application and easily restored at a later point in one go.
