Jing is an open source software that instantly captures and shares images and video from your desktop/computer to anywhere. Jing project was started by TechSmith who developed many great softwares such as Camstasia Studio, Camtasia Relay and SnagIt. With Jing you can snap a picture of anything on your desktop and share it with your friends or post it on your blog. The software can upload the images directly to flickr, or save it to a local folder.
TechSmith is also including a complimentary Screencast.com account with 2GB of storage and 2GB of transfer bandwidth per month. Besides capturing images, you can capture high quality videos and share them instantly. But, unfortunately you cannot resize or edit the video once you have finished recording. So, you have to depend on other software for editing. Images are always in PNG format and videos are always in SWF format. Visit Jing

Jing is a very convenient software for capturing images and videos. The other softwares by Techsmith were very efficient. It is good to know that Techsmith is offering a complimentary account in screencast.com. If you want to capture images from videos I suggest you try Fast video indexer.
