Easy Way To Create a Copy of Your Hard Disk

The hard disk and partition imaging software take a snapshot of your hard disk so that you can restore your system at a later time to the exact same state the system was when you imaged the disk or partition.

This is useful for system recovery in case of a hard disk disaster. The term “image” is used because such software often copy the state of the hard disk sector by sector to your image. Hence if your hard disk was (say) defragmented with certain software occupying certain sectors when you backed up, it will be returned to that same state when you restore your backup. The image utilities often do not allow fine control what you backup – you can specify the partitions or hard disks to back up, but you usually will not be able to specify which folders to exclude or include. They are useful for backing up your system drive or partition, that is, the drive that you placed your operating system on. Hard disk imaging software are sometimes also used to clone a hard disk to another (useful for the times you change or upgrade your hard disk).

On the other hand, the hard disk, folder and files backup software listed here allow a finer control over what you back up.

You can selectively backup and restore (say) your documents and email while omitting other files and directories. Some of the utilities allow you to schedule your backups, so that you can be sure that your important data are backed up periodically (for example, daily, weekly, monthly, etc). Depending on the utility, it may or may not support the backup of your system drive (the drive you booted from).

How to Easily Insert Youtube Video Into Powerpoint 2007

Adding a Youtube video into powerpoint 2007 is not a one step process. You have to do multiple things before you have a working youtube video in powerpoint 2007. I wish if we just can insert the video as any other objects like images, clip art, shape etcc, but its not. Thats why I created this easy to follow step by step tutorial with images of how to embed youtube video into powerpoint 2007 in less than a minute.

First thing you have to do is to active the developer option on the top menu. By default you have something similar to this image.

So, to add the developer option, click on the office Icon on the top left of your screen as shown here

Then, click on the powerpoint option as highlighted in yellow in the image above.

You will window will pop up looks like this

Click on Popular then make sure to check the “Show Developer tab in the Ribbon“, Then Click Ok

Now, the Developer option will show in the ribbon “the menu” near view. Click on it. You should see these options shown in the image below.

Click on the icon highlighted in yellow. A new window will popup looks like this image. Scroll almost all the way down until you find Shockwave Flash Object as shown bellow.

Choose Shockwave Flash Object then click ok.

Now, draw any square in the powerpoint slide. You can do this, but dragging the mouse pointer. This is adjustable so don’t worry about the size of the video now. You should get something similar to this.

Then, Right click on the square or rectangle you just drawn and click on Properties.

The properties of the video will come up. Scroll down until you find Movie as shown bellow.

Now go to youtube and copy the link of the video you want to add to the slide.

Go back to your powerpoint and paste the link as shown below.

Here you are to do a little bit of work.

A. Delete watch?

B. Delete = and replace it with /

The link should look like this

Close this window and go back to your powerpoint and click on the slideshow to see your final product. End the slide show and adjust the size of the video whatever you like.

Remember, you always can go back to video properties and stop looping, or stop automatic play and many other options.

I think it is important or let me say necessarily that every computer user creates a strong password when using the internet. People these days can hack in to your email account whether its Gmail, hotmail or yahoo, and change your password or just view your e-mails.

You might say, can people really hack into my e-mail account? Yes, it happens to thousands of people all over the world everyday. They use a variety of password cracker softwares and script to hijack a particular account or site.

Many bloggers who use content management systems such as Wodpress and Joomla lost their passwords by hackers and basically lost their entire site. Hackers also can inject codes into your SQL database or any file in your site without you noticing, and all the sudden you lost your traffic.

If you are not a blogger, but just normal internet user, I am sure that you are active in at least one social networking site such as Facebook, Myspace or maybe Hi5.

My point is, no matter what you do on the internet you have to make a really strong password to prevent any hacking into your e-mail, site or any password attacks.

How do you do that?

Great question, and the answer is simple. Microsoft has one of the best tools that let you know whether your password is strong or not.

An ideal password is long and has letters, punctuation, symbols, and numbers.

Whenever possible, use at least 14 characters or more.
The greater the variety of characters in your password, the better.
Use the entire keyboard, not just the letters and characters you use or see most often.

You dont’ want to create a complex password and then forget it the next day. So, this might sound silly, but the best way to remember your password is the write it down. After few days you will be able to recall it easily.

Things to keep in your mind when you create a password:

Don’t use any personal information, such as your name, birthday, driver’s license, credit card number, or similar information.
Words in all languages are vulnerable. Create something totally unique.

As I mentioned above, Microsoft has a great tool that lets you test the strength of your password before registering on any website. Think of all the tips and hints above, then click on this link to test your password.

3 free softwares to manage and create ISO files

I really don’t want to overwhelm you with bunch of .ISO softwares that don’t really work properly. I choose these three software for one reason, they actually do work. And the reviews are awesome. Also, they are totally free.

ISODisk: Whats different about ISO disk is that it lets you create virtual CD/DVD driver up to 20 drivers, mount an .ISO disk image and access the files on it as if it were burned to CD or DVD. No that many ISO software do that, except the paid ones. This software is clean (No spywares or viruses) attached to the installation file. This free program can quickly create ISO image file from CD/DVD-ROM, with ISODisk, you don’t need install any other virtual drive software. Once you map the archive to a virtual drive, you can be able to view the contents in Windows Explorer. Even though, ISO image is free, yet its very powerful and easy to use.

ISO Burner: Instruction about how to use this software are available here. But again, if you have every used an ISO software then at least you will be familiar with the functionality of ISO burner. I am not sure whether ISODisk could burn Blu-ray Disc, but I am sure that this one does.

ISO burner allows you to burn an ISO image files to CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-RW, DVD-RW, DL DVD+RW, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

Mount ISO Files Virtually: This is Microsoft stuff, so don’t complain alright.

I have read so many good reviews about the software and it works like a charm. For the first time ISO user, this is the perfect software for you.

Easy to install, use, and not heavy on the computer. I would really try this software before the ones mentioned above.

Yahoo Mail Is Down February 4th 1010

Yahoo mail on February 4th 2010 @ 11:30p.m Central Time went down for technical problem.

The main page works fine, and when you click on the mail icon you get the boxes where you enter youusername and password. but once you enter them, a message saying ”

Ouch!
The error, LaunchOutage, occurred when trying to connect to Yahoo! Mail.

and when you click on retry you would get the error message:

Can’t talk now. System’s down.

Sorry for the holdup. Looks like a temporary glitch in our network has part of Yahoo! mail down, so you’re briefly without service. Rest assured the alarms are blaring in the basement and our team is working frantically to get you up and running ASAP. Again, the snag is on our end — so there’s no need for you to do a thing.

Hopefully they will fix the issue soon “as usual”.

Hovercards: New Feature On Twitter

Twitter just introduced a new feature (not for everyone yet) that allows you to view other people profile without actually visiting their profile.

As always, Twitter wants to enhance the user experience by developing tools and features that make it more usable.

Hovercards are cards which appear when you hover over a username or avatar. The cards display additional information about the person and allow you to interact with them while staying within the context of your page. Twitter Blog

Civilization On Facebook This Summer

Civilization fans will be able to play the game on Facebook beginning this summer. There is no official date when the game is going to be released by, but the exception is June

The June release will be beta testing only, and the official launch will be beginning of 2011.

Civilization fans also were very disappointed when they knew that they are going to wait another 4 months to start playing, because initially, the news came out from the company that they are going to release it beginning of this year. But that didn’t happen -

Just in case you are not familiar with the game, here is what Meier said about it:

“You can coordinate your strategy to win great battles, share your technology to jump ahead of your rivals, lobby your family and friends to form your own government and win vital elections, manage and grow your cities to maximize production and happiness, spy on your enemies, and work with your friends to create the great Wonders of the World. Wine is still under active development. Not every program works yet, however there are already several million people using Wine to run their software.
